Case Study Protocol
Purpose: This protocol seeks to engage design teams in the process of discussion and reflection on real-world situations as a basis for learning. This process aims to get educators to apply novel skills and understanding to varied ambiguous, complex, and realistic conditions that may arise within a learning ecosystem.
First, Independently:
Read a case study from the set below.
Consider the guiding questions at the end of the text.
Then, Small Group:
Discuss the case study using these lenses.
Be sure to share airtime and record the group’s ideas.
What did you notice?
What would you keep, discard, or modify? Why?
What connections can you make with the Ohio personalized learning framework?
Finally, Large Group:
What innovations align with Primary? Elementary? Middle School? High School?
What system shifts will support your innovations or ideas?
What can we try in 30 days? 60 days? 90 days? 120 days?
How would these shifts increase personalized learning?
