Convening Seven Pre-work
~ The Spread and Scale of Personalized Learning ~
Pre-work
In Convening 7, we will spend time focusing on the future of personalized learning in your learning community. During the convening we will consider: How might we spread and scale personalized learning beyond our design team? To prepare to answer that question, we’ve compiled some strategies below that LAUNCH teams across the country have used to spread personalized learning.
Directions: Pick at least 2 strategies below, and consider: How might our design team use a version of this strategy for spreading personalized learning? Note: the strategies below are not exhaustive and we invite you to bring additional ideas and strategies to the convening.
Strategies for Spreading Personalized Learning
Scale a Condition from the OH Personalized Learning Framework
Pick a condition to focus on as a full staff at your school. Focus professional learning and PLC’s on this condition.
Use the Learning Cycle in Professional Development
Continue use of the learning cycle and commitments process in your local professional development. This is a great way to begin personalizing professional learning with personalized goals.
Utilize the Moves to Steal
The protocols and processes that we’ve modeled during convenings can be used with staff and/or learners at your sites.
Explore Personalized Learning Modules
Introduction to personalized learning modules can be used with departments/full staff; a free resource to expand knowledge of personalized learning in your learning community.
Using Social Media
Use social media or your school/district newsletter to highlight personalized learning strategies or takeaways.
Book Study
Lead/participate in a school or department-wide book study to grow knowledge of personalized learning at your site.
Personalized Learning “Vanguard” Team
Teachers volunteer or apply to be part of a school or district innovation team that studies personalized learning and serves as a resource for peers, supporting learner-centered practices.
