Authentic Learning

In Convening 4, we will focus on the Authentic Learning component of the Ohio Personalized Learning Framework to consider the belief that personalized learning requires educators to co-design and facilitate authentic learning pathways, experiences, and assessments, aligned to equitable supports around learners’ needs, interests, aspirations, and cultural backgrounds to foster meaningful connections to their learning.

Indicators of a Authentic Learning include:

3.1 Personal learning pathways and experiences are learner driven.

3.2 Learners engage in relevant experiences that build skills such as innovation, problem-solving and design-thinking.

3.3 Learners are provide with opportunities to demonstrate career-ready competencies in real-world settings by solving challenges that are relevant to their local community.

3.4 Learners are immersed in experiences that are connected to their cultural identities and community contexts.

Choice Sessions

Not for the faint of heart! This immersive experience will take participants through the entire design thinking process in a limited time in order to experience all parts of the cycle.  A brief discussion will follow in order to analyze the what, why, and how of design thinking.  Design thinking is for all content areas, so join the fun!

Participants will make connections on how community partners can support building career pathways for learners.  Participants will be inspired through examples of innovative and community partnerships with ideas on where to begin and how to connect with partners. Resources and templates will be shared to help participants create a community engagement toolkit of their own.

Explore examples and learn stories from other learning communities that promote authentic engagement and learning through immersion in experiences connected to learners’ cultural identities and community contexts

Designed for school/district leaders and instructional coaches, this session focuses on leadership strategies to create a shared vision and culture for implementation, build the capacity of staff, deepen personalized learning instructional practice, and manage organizational structures and resources to support Authentic Learning.
