Convening Two Content
~ Cohort TWO - November 2023 ~
Optimal Path & Pace
Personalized Learning Pathways are co-designed between educators and learners to provide voice and choice in when and how they access and engage with content and in how they express their learning. Students are provided with opportunities to progress at a pace that is appropriate to their needs in order to reach mastery. Learners have access to multiple learning paths for success and are given appropriate tiers of instructional support.
Indicators of Optimal Path & Pace in Learning include:
4.1 Learners are supported by the learning community (teachers, administrators, school staff, families, etc.) to co-develop and maintain learning plans that are aligned to Ohio's State Standards and demonstrate a viable progression of knowledge, skills and habits of mind.
4.2 Learners have equitable access to high-quality instructional materials (including complex, grade-level texts).
4.3 Learners are provided with opportunities to progress at a pace that is appropriate to their needs in order to reach mastery of skills and competencies.
4.4 Learners engage in standards-aligned academic experiences ground in evidence-based teaching practices in all pathways.
Learning Targets
Develop a foundational understanding of the optimal path and pace indicators from the OH Personalized Learning Framework.
Understand the purpose of a learning path and pace.
Articulate the parts of a learning path.
Engage in cross-cohort collaboration as part of the OH Personalized Learning Network.
Collaborate in my school design team to develop a commitment aligned to the optimal path and pace component of the Ohio Personalized Learning Framework.
Pre-Work
We are so excited to see you at convening two! Prior to the convening please complete the convening one pre-work that you can find HERE. We anticipate the pre-work to take 20-35 minutes.
Choice Sessions
Participants will use standards and a learning taxonomy to design a logically sequenced learning progression.
In traditional learning environments pre-assessments are often linked to pre-tests and post-tests. In a personalized learning environment, a pre-assessment can be a powerful tool to drive a learning path, serving as an invitation to come into the learning experience.
Participants will use the learning pathway design process to explore and practice creating pathways aligned to a learning progression.
Designed for school/district leaders and instructional coaches, this session focuses on leadership strategies to create a shared vision and culture for implementation, build the capacity of staff, deepen personalized learning instructional practice, and manage organizational structures and resources to support Optimal Path and Pace.
